Four more days for my Summer 2020 One-Minute Plank Challenge! Next week, we’ll start on a new fitness adventure together. I hope you’ve done a few planks this summer, or more than a few, and gained an appreciation for them in the process. Perhaps while completing the plank challenge, you’ve even developed a plank habit. I was thinking the other day that you can’t really go wrong with a daily walk and a one-minute plank.

A Plank Habit

Through this plank challenge, I’ve gotten a pretty good plank habit going. Planks still aren’t super easy for me but I’ve definitely gotten stronger. I have to admit, I did forget and miss a few days (I think four or five) over the last ten weeks. But my family did a good job of reminding me, usually right before I went to bed. I actually did a few after I got in my sleeping bag while camping.

I told myself that bedtime was a good time to plank – that fully engaging all those muscles would enable me to fully relax when I got into bed. Possibly true. And it helped me get them done.

Moving Forward

I’m hoping to continue my plank habit indefinitely, even though it may change. Perhaps I’ll switch to planks three times a week while I focus on something else. Your fitness program can and should evolve. Not only is it ‘allowed’, it’s also an integral part of a lifelong pledge to fitness. If you missed my post last week on fitness pledges v. fitness goals, you can read it here.

Thanks for joining me for the Summer 2020 One-Minute Plank Challenge. I’ll leave you with my favorite plank video from the summer. See you next week for a new fitness adventure!
