Homemade granola is so much better than store-bought! I’ve been making granola for years and created this simple recipe when our kids started getting braces. It’s a less chunky granola, with plenty of flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. You can make this with either honey or maple syrup.

Dry Ingredients

  • 5 C rolled oats
  • 2 1/2 C chopped nuts (I use pecans, walnuts, and sliced almonds)
  • 3 T brown sugar
  • Optional – 1 – 2 t cinnamon, if using honey (below)

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/3 C oil (I use grapeseed)
  • 1/3 C honey or maple syrup

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Chop nuts finely. I use a mix of equal parts pecans, walnuts, and sliced almonds.

Mix all dry ingredients.

Whisk oil and either honey or maple syrup. Drizzle over dry ingredients, then combine until distributed throughout.

Spread on parchment paper in 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan.

Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes.

If you want to add dried fruit, wait until after baking. Just stir in raisins, dried cherries, or other dried fruit when you pull the pan out of the oven. This method keeps your dried fruit moist and chewy.

Allow to cool completely and then store in airtight container.

Enjoy!
