These gift bags are fun to make and reusable too. We made a bunch of these at Christmas and just finished another batch for birthday season (May/June at our house).  If your kids are older they can make the bags from start to finish.  If they’re younger, you make the bags and they decorate them.

What you need:

  • Any thick paper (I use kraft paper)
  • scissors
  • glue sticks
  • a hole punch
  • thin cardboard (old manila folders or cereal boxes)
  • ribbon or yarn for handles
  • paint (or stickers, photos, magazine pictures, etc)

First, follow this video to make the bag and handles:

This video makes me laugh – who knew folding kraft paper was this loud?!

Now the super fun part – decorating the bags!

We enjoyed painting ours. How will you decorate yours?
