2024 – The Butterfly Blueprint, a Green Mountain Area Homeschoolers service-learning project through the Roots and Shoots program of the Jane Goodall Institute.

This summer, our Roots and Shoots youth leadership team met to plan our annual student-led service-learning project. The project will run from late August through the end of October. The majority of learning experiences and project work will be scheduled on Wednesdays.  Participation costs will be minimal.

Below is a list of the events scheduled so far. Sign up for those you’d like to attend under  individual field trip offerings in ‘Field Trips’ section.

  • Wed, Aug 28 ‘The Butterfly Blueprint’ Kickoff Event at Kendrick Lake Park
  • Wed, Sep 11 The Butterfly Pavilion group visit
  • Wed, Sep 25 Garden Tour at Kendrick Lake Park (rsvp’s opening soon)
  • Wed, Oct 16 Project Day (rsvp’s opening soon)

In 2023, we celebrated our 10th year of participating in the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots and Shoots program. This video looks back at our projects over the years, five of which received Sustainability Awards from the City of Lakewood.
